LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AREA ACTIVITIES, 1999-2007

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Following the creation of local Government in 1991, the LGEA was created from the defunct Malumfashi Local Government with Alhaji Surajo Hamisu Kafur as acting Education Secretary. Alhaji Sani Isyaku Masari is the Education Secretary from 1999-2007, with total number 80 primary schools and 1097 teaching and non teaching staff.

 

ENROLMENT

The Local Government Education Authority has a total pupils enrolment of forty one Thousand six Hundred and Forty Nine Pupils (41,649) out of this number, 27,370 were males while 14,270 were females.

 

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS

Local Government Traditional leaders, PTS and other donor agencies such as the World Bank have contributed immensely to the outstanding achievements of the LGEA.

The Local Government chairman (1999-2002) Alhaji Nafi’u Lawal Kuringafa had contributed classrooms and recruited a number of staff during his tenure in office.

Most notable, is the contribution of the present Local Government chairman, Alhaji Baure Umar Masari who constructed twelve blocks of classrooms and renovated Twenty two. He also constructed Nine Hundred and twenty one Double Seater desk and Benches for Primary pupils in the LGEA.

The traditional rulers in the area have assisted in series of campaign organized by the state Universal Basic Education Board and the LEA on Girl child Education and UBE programme in the state. Parent Teachers Association (PTA) in collaboration with World Bank and UBEP has assisted in the construction, renovation and provision of furniture in about Twenty five (25) Schools in the LGEA.

 

AWARD RECEIVED

Kafur LGEA has won a cup by taking a second position in 2003 Qur’anic recitation Quiz Competition in the state.

The Honorable speaker, Federal House of Representatives RT. Honorable Aminu Bello Masari has personally contributed to the development of Education in the LGEA by Fencing Kafur.
